The NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) – Version 2026 is a globally
recognized health and safety qualification awarded by NEBOSH (UK). It is designed for
managers, supervisors, and employees who require a strong foundation in occupational
health and safety management.
From 2026, NEBOSH has updated the course structure from IG1 & IG2 to:
• GIC1 – Management of Health & Safety
• GIC2 – Practical Risk Assessment
The syllabus remains fundamentally the same, with improvements made to enhance
practical understanding, improve assessment clarity, and provide better marking and
structured feedback.
This qualification is widely accepted by employers across industries such as
construction, oil & gas, manufacturing, logistics, marine, and healthcare. It significantly
improves career prospects in the safety profession both in India and internationally
Examination Pattern
GIC1 – Management of Health & Safety
• 24-hour Online Open Book Examination
• Scenario-based questions
• Submitted via NEBOSH online platform
GIC2 – Practical Risk Assessment
• Workplace-based risk assessment
• Must be submitted within 10 working days after GIC1
• Points-based marking system
• Pass mark: 60%
• Results for both units released together (approximately 60 working days)
Qualification Recognition
Upon successful completion, candidates receive the NEBOSH International General
Certificate (UK).
The qualification:
• Is accredited by SQA (SCQF Level 6)
• Provides eligibility for AIOSH Membership
• Meets academic requirements for Tech IOSH (with relevant experience)
• Provides eligibility for AIIRSM Membership
• Is globally recognized by employer
